Text Team: Punctuation- Purists can always be relied upon to provide stunning examples of proper spelling and grammar equal to none. I’ve noticed that people generally fall into one of three types of text-message-profiles:ġ) some people always end their texts with a period (though the number of these period-purists are dwindling). You probably think I’m nuts or strangely pedantic - I mean, people say lots of things in texts and the use of punctuation is subjectively tailored to that individual and need not to be tied into something beyond that, because people have varying texting habits. Having witnessed the myriad ways that people, myself included, use punctuation in the various corners of the virtual world today, compared to their previous incarnations in years prior, I became more and more aware of how the vast majority of people don’t use periods at the end of each typed sentence anymore and when they do, it’s usually because they’re trying to highlight the seriousness of a certain emotion and that emotion can be described by numerous adjectives, including the basic descriptor which I need type only once: anger and as it relates to the requisite sentence in which a period will be used for the purposes described in this paragraph: to say that not only are they angry, but they’re no longer kidding about and therefore insinuate their demand to be taken seriously with the firm period at the end of the sentence.
